Artistic Director and Producer, ShapeShifter Productions

August 2014

Am moving on -

It’s been 10 years since my late husband, actor Jimmie F. Skaggs, co-founder of ShapeShifter, left this world. When he died, I put the production company on hiatus for the decade and continued to work as an actor and director elsewhere.

This year, I have decided to re-start ShapeShifter, solo, as Artistic Director and Producer, to present work I care about, in theatre, music and video.  I hope the choices I make will do Jimmie’s memory justice. The work produced by ShapeShifter will, I hope, continue to be “evocative, provocative and entertaining”, as he was fond of saying,  and rekindle the audience’s passion for great theatre and film.

In addition, as I look for artists to collaborate with, I hope to find material that deals with issues of social justice and the environment.  In particular, I think there are too many people in prison in the U.S. and I think that we have a long way to go in taking better care of the planet!

The very first artist to be presented by the new ShapeShifter Productions is the extraordinary poet and musician from Canada, Joseph Maviglia, who will read from his newest book, “Critics Who Know Jack: Urban Myths, Media and Rock & Roll”, and perform his music at two events this September in California.
